Holiday Aided Language Stimulation

Dec 10, 2021

Holidays can be a great time to expand and grow communication opportunities.  After all, the excitement of a season of celebration can often bring with it new topics for conversation, expanding activities, favorite foods, lights, decorations, and more.

Because many of these moments are highly engaging for a large number of communicators, they might make a good chance to get in some practice with core vocabulary words that relate to specific topics.

After all, language learning (or really, any learning for that matter) is more appealing when it's centered around something enjoyable.

To try to support language growth, here are a few holiday activity cards complete with some suggested AAC core vocabulary words that might make a good boost to communication.

Use the words around the border of the card to model language, or let those images guide you to selecting words within the AAC system itself.  Either way, these cards make an easy starting point for aided language stimulation for an AAC supporters of any skill level.  Seasoned pro or budding novice, start a conversation and let it grow around words that will help your communicator express themself in any number of situations – in or out of the holiday season.
